The Sweat Blouse is My Essential Wardrobe's quietly luxurious take on the everyday sweatshirt, and in Dark Grey Melange it's the softest, most wearable grey you'll find. Once you've worn one, you'll understand why Hil is obsessed with the matching Sweat Pant.

It has a loose fit, long sleeves, a round neck and a properly soft, fluid drape. This isn't a sweatshirt you throw on for a duvet day. It's the one you wear out for coffee, on the plane, on the school run and on into the evening, and still look like you made an effort.

The secret is the fabric. Half of it is LENZING™ Modal, a plant-based fibre refined from sustainably sourced beech wood, which gives it a buttery, almost satin-soft hand-feel you'd expect from something twice the price. A touch of stretch means it keeps its shape, wash after wash.

Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle with similar colours

How to Measure Yourself Correctly

Achieve the perfect fit by following these simple measurement steps:

Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal.
Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your navel.
Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, with your feed together.

Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.

A loose, relaxed fit: the looseness is the point, so take your usual size. Size S measures approximately 106cm across the chest and 60cm in length.

Hil, a UK 10 to 12, wears the M: generously drapey, never swamping. Sue, a teeny tiny UK 6 to 8, wears the XS.
