Care Instructions

Machine washable on a gentle cycle. Linen doesn't stretch but softens with every wash and will look better and better over time. Do not attempt to iron it flat—that's not what this top is for.

Achieve the perfect fit by following these simple measurement steps:

  • Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal.
  • Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your navel.
  • Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, with your feed together.

Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.

The Hester runs generously. Hil is 5ft 3 and a UK 10/12 and takes a Small or Medium—Small for a cleaner line, Medium for a more generous hem cascade.

One honest note: the Hester doesn't come in an XS. If you're very petite—a UK 4 or 6—the Small will be more than oversized. The proportions are genuinely designed with a UK 8 upwards in mind, and we'd rather tell you than not. Sue has registered her feelings about this and we have duly noted them.
Why We Love It

Lilac is the colour that's been having its moment for a while now and shows absolutely no signs of stopping—and in linen, it's particularly special. The texture of the fabric softens the shade and gives it a real, tactile depth that you don't get from cotton or polyester. The Hester in lilac is the kind of top that ends up on holiday, at garden parties, at farmers' markets on a Saturday morning, and back on the rail in September when you realise it works just as well with a camel cardigan as it did with white sandals in July.
Styling Suggestions

Hil wears hers with white wide-leg linen trousers for a tonal summer look that takes approximately four seconds to put together, and with high-waisted raw jeans in the cooler months. She'd add a berry or mauve lip to play into the lilac—or go bold and do red, because Hil doesn't really do rules. Gold earrings always.

Sue is sitting this one out—the Small is simply too big for her frame and there's no XS—but she has registered her interest very clearly indeed and we have duly noted it.
