Hil (5’3”, UK 10/12): Hil would be honest — the gathered mock neck is a little higher than she’d usually choose, as she’s a confirmed open-neckline devotee. But she’d make it work layered under an open linen blazer or a long open-front cardigan so the neckline is a feature rather than the whole outfit. She could also wear statement earrings and let the top do the dressing. This is naturally more of a Sue piece, but it works beautifully in the right styling.
Sue (5’0”, UK 6): This is very much Sue’s kind of top. The gathered neckline does all the styling work without needing jewellery, and it looks beautiful tucked into a high-waisted midi skirt or with wide-leg culottes and her empire-line belt. The A-line shape gives room without swamping her petite frame — lovely.

Pale mauve in a satin that just does the right things to the light — it’s one of those tops we picked up and immediately knew. The gathered neckline is the detail that makes it: elegant without being fussy, and flattering on practically everyone who tries it. We’ve yet to meet a customer who picks this up and puts it back.

Sue (5’0”, size 6): wears hers tucked into a high-waisted midi skirt with her empire-line belt, letting the gathered neckline do all the dressing up. Works beautifully layered under a relaxed linen cardigan for cooler days, or on its own for a summer evening out.
Hil (5’3”, size 10/12): layers hers under an open linen jacket with white wide-leg trousers and gold sandals. The pale mauve and white together are properly lovely, and the satin sheen lifts what could be a very simple outfit into something that feels considered and polished.
