Description

The Sundae Coat from Betty B in Wine Check is a beautifully considered winter statement: a deep wine tartan-check pattern cut into a relaxed, wearable coat silhouette, and given the fabric upgrade the UK version deserves.

Fabric-wise: 30% wool, 70% polyester. Wool leads the composition. Betty B have updated the UK specification to bring more wool into the blend (the earlier Australian version stopped at 10%), so this reads warmer, weightier and considerably more elevated than a plain-polyester winter coat. The wool does the natural-fibre warmth and hand-feel work; the polyester engineers the shape and hold.

Wine Check is one of the season's most beautiful shades: a deep burgundy-red base with the traditional tartan-check line-work overlaid. Grown-up, autumnal, endlessly pair-back-friendly, and quietly dramatic in the way a good check should be.

Sizing: available in UK 8, 10, 12, 14.

How Hil wears hers: tone-on-tone burgundy. With her Toxik Alder Wide Leg Jeans in Burgundy underneath. The wine-check-plus-burgundy-denim combination reads considered head-to-toe autumnal cool. Bold, but grounded, because both pieces sit in the same warm-jewel wine family.

How Sue wears hers: Sue's move is looser and less tucked. She layers the coat over a loose Betty B Cloud LS Tee in Burgundy (a solid burgundy tee, same brand as the coat, sitting cleanly against the check without competing), her Toxik Colette Floral Detail Flared Jeans in Light Blue Denim (her size 34, the tonal punched-out floral cut-out treatment at the hem is a texture detail, not a print, so it plays quietly under the tartan), finished with her ancient Russell & Bromley stacked olive boots. Solid burgundy tee, faded flared denim with the punched hem detail, deep wine check coat, earthy olive boot: bohemian tonal, everything talking to everything else.

  • Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal.
  • Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your navel.
  • Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, with your feed together.

Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.
