Description

Some dresses you put on; some dresses put themselves on you. Rosa is the second kind. Crisp ivory cotton, a fitted empire bodice and a flowing midi skirt that catches the breeze the moment you step outside — and then there's the embroidery. A spray of red, turquoise, mustard and pink wildflowers garlands the bodice and trails up the straps, a little bit folkloric, a lot pretty.

The straps are wide enough to cover a proper bra (thank you), there's a shirred panel at the upper back so it actually moves with you, and a discreet side zip means no wrestling it over your head. It is, simply, a holiday in a dress.

Achieve the perfect fit by following these simple measurement steps:

  • Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal.
  • Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your navel.
  • Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, with your feed together.

Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.

  • Hil (5'3", UK 10/12, 34EE bust, apple-shaped): The square neck is a gift for an apple shape — it sits off-neck, lifts the bust, and the empire line skims everything below. Hil would take the 12. The midi length will likely land on the ankle on her 5'3" frame, so worth a quick hem-up.
  • Sue (5'0", UK 6): The 8 will fit her width, but at 5'0" Sue should try the empire line on first — the seam might sit a touch high on her. The midi will become a maxi without a tailor.
  • General note: 100% cotton, so true to size with no stretch. The cloth is breathable and perfect for a hot day. The bodice is finely woven — wear a slip underneath if you prefer no see-through whatsoever.

Styling Suggestions
  • Hil (UK 12): Flat tan leather sandals, gold hoops, hair pinned up, a straw basket bag for lunch on the terrace. A denim jacket round the shoulders if the evening cools.
  • Sue (UK 8): Her chunky tan sandals, stacked gold bangles, a layered gold necklace and a basket bag for a market day. She'd layer it over a fitted vest if the bodice felt too sheer.
