Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal.
Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your navel.
Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, with your feed together.

Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.

The Philippa is designed to be a generous, relaxed fit with soft shaping through the waist thanks to the smocked back panel. The cotton has no stretch, but the relaxed cut and shirring make it incredibly comfortable to wear.

• Sue is 5’0” and a standard UK size 6 — she wears the Extra Small comfortably with plenty of movement.

• Hil is 5’3” and a standard UK size 10/12 — she would choose the Small for the perfect relaxed-but-polished fit.

If you prefer a neater silhouette, you could size down in this style. If you love a floaty, bohemian feel, stay true to size.

General Rule: With beautifully crafted cotton pieces like this, the fabric will soften more and more with wear, becoming even lovelier over time.

Hil’s Look – Polished Summer Glam: Hil would style the Philippa with a raffia wedge, gold jewellery, oversized sunglasses and a bold lip for summer lunches or garden parties. When the weather cools, she’d add a fitted blazer or cropped knit with tan leather boots.

Sue’s Look – Relaxed Boho Layers: Sue would wear this with chunky trainers or stacked ankle boots and layer it under an oversized coat with a beanie when the temperature drops. She also loves the idea of adding a slim black roll-neck underneath in winter for that slightly Saint Laurent-inspired layered look.

For summer though? It really is perfect exactly as it is — just add sunshine and sandals.
