Description
The Nomad Wanderer from Emu Australia in Dark Olive is the boot that answers the question "cosy or capable?" with a plain yes to both. A high-top sheepskin sneaker-boot with a suede upper, sheepskin lining and a thick supportive sole — Emu doing what Emu does best, in a considered dark-olive colourway that reads modern rather than novelty.
The build:
- Suede upper in a rich dark-olive tone — considered, versatile, grown-up
- Lined throughout with premium Australian sheepskin — Woolmark-accredited, proper heritage warmth
- Water-resistant Australian sheepskin construction — real weather-readiness, not just fair-weather cosy
- Lace-up from the toe bumper to the top of the shaft — properly adjustable, secure fit
- Pull tab at the heel — easy on, easy off
- Durable rubber outsole — engineered for actual walking, not just slipper-comfort
- High-top silhouette — considered sneaker-boot hybrid, wears with almost anything
The Dark Olive is properly wearable earthy-neutral — plays absolutely beautifully with the whole warm-autumn capsule on site. Cross-refs to our Lily & Me Ash Cord Jacket in Sage Green, our Lily & Me Joan Fair Isle Tank in Sage, and the bitter-chocolate winter capsule. Also works with denim (any wash), cream, camel and black.
The Nesh factor: both Hil and Sue describe themselves as Nesh (that northern-UK feels-the-cold-easily). This is exactly the boot Nesh people need on a north-west UK dog-walk / school-run / market-wander — sheepskin lining doing the heat, rubber sole doing the mud.
How Hil wears hers: Hil is a runner, and the days she's not running she's walking — the Nomad Wanderer is exactly her considered-capable weekend-and-weekday boot. Paired with her Toxik denim (Rowans, Alders, Birch, Sadie — any of the high-waisted family), a chunky knit, and one of her Rino & Pelle coats over the top. Perfect for the Chester Christmas Market wander when the ground turns properly cold.
How Sue wears hers: the Dark Olive is a natural echo of Sue's beloved ancient Russell & Bromley stacked olive boots — the ones she reaches for every autumn/winter and we cannot get off her feet. When those finally do give up (they won't, but hypothetically), the Nomad Wanderer in Dark Olive is the natural successor — same considered olive tone, same earthy-neutral versatility, in a proper Australian-sheepskin sneaker-boot with modern lace-up construction. Paired with her cropped Toxik Keira jeans and off along the Wirral Way with beloved Reggie.
Sizing: UK 4 through UK 7. True to size — trust your usual UK boot fit.
Emu Australia grew out of Jacksons Tannery, which began in 1948, with a founding idea that's held ever since: nature is the best inventor and they're just following her lead. Everything they make is built around sustainable, natural materials — sheepskin, suede, wool — engineered for quality that lasts rather than throwaway footwear.
