Description

A reversible block-print quilted jacket — two jackets in one, frankly. One side gives you a bold indigo medallion print; the other a smaller geometric diamond in the same blue palette. Both are hand-blocked on cotton and quilted with diamond top-stitching. Open front, three-quarter sleeves, hip length, finished along every edge with hand-stitched ric-rac trim.

Made in India for Maison de Belle, whose whole point is keeping artisan craft alive without fanfare. The fact that you flip it for an entirely different jacket is borderline cheating: print-A out, it's bold and graphic; print-B out, it's quietly patterned and easier to layer. Either way, the ric-rac and quilting carry the kind of detail that machine production never quite manages.

Features
  • Silhouette: Open-front jacket, hip length, three-quarter sleeves.
  • Reversibility: Two complete looks — a larger medallion print on one side, a smaller diamond geometric on the other.
  • Quilting: Diamond top-stitched quilt across both faces.
  • Trim: Hand-stitched ric-rac edging along front, hem and sleeves.
  • Closure: Open front (no buttons or ties).
  • Fabric: Hand-blocked cotton, quilted construction.
  • Brand origin: Maison de Belle — London design house, pieces made in India.
  • Sustainability: Slow-fashion construction, fair wages for the artisan makers.

Size Guide
  • Hil's pick: At 5'3" and a UK 10/12, Hil would wear the M. The hip length and open front are kind to her shape — nothing buttoning across the bust (always a relief at 34EE) — and the three-quarter sleeve makes a feature of a chunky cuff or stack of bracelets underneath.
  • Sue's pick: At 5'0" and a UK 6, Sue would wear the S. The relaxed cut sits like a kimono on her, and the three-quarter sleeve becomes very nearly a full-length sleeve on her petite arm — she likes it that way.
  • Fabric note: Quilted cotton has weight and structure, so the jacket holds its shape rather than collapsing on the shoulders. A proper transitional piece — mid-summer evenings and again in early autumn.
Why We Love It

The fact that you flip it for an entirely different jacket is borderline cheating. Worn print-A out it's bold and graphic; print-B out it's quietly patterned and easier to layer. Either way, the ric-rac and quilting carry the kind of artisan detail that machine production never quite manages.

Styling Suggestions
  • Hil (UK 10/12): Over a white linen vest and white wide-leg linen trousers, gold drop earrings, leather slides — a holiday uniform that looks considered rather than thrown together. With dark jeans and a black tee come autumn.
  • Sue (UK 6): Thrown over a black slip dress with her chunky boots — boho with attitude. In summer, white linen shorts, a vest, and her chunky white trainers.
