Wide-leg, high-waisted, and in a soft mid-grey wash that's a proper change from the usual indigo, the Kimu Jeans are b.young doing their best "effortlessly put together" trick. The denim has a slightly soft, worn-in texture straight out of the box, so there's none of that stiff, new-jeans break-in period.

They sit high on the waist with a self-tie fabric belt through the loops rather than a traditional buckle, so you can cinch it exactly as tight, or as loose, as you like. The leg runs wide and full-length from a structured hip and thigh, giving a silhouette that's easy rather than skinny.

Functional side pockets, a relaxed drape through the leg, and that softer grey wash make these an easy switch-up from black or indigo denim without losing any of the everyday versatility.

We don't have the full fabric care label for these to hand, so we'd always suggest following whatever's inside, but as with most denim, a cool wash and skipping the tumble dryer will keep the colour and shape honest for longer.

Achieve the perfect fit by following these simple measurement steps:

Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal.
Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your navel.
Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, with your feed together.

Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.

True to size, so stick with your usual. The high waist and self-tie belt mean you can adjust the fit at the waist rather than needing to size up or down, and the wide leg is forgiving through the hip and thigh.

Hil is 5'3" and usually a UK 10/12; Sue is 5'0" and usually a UK 6. A proper wide leg like this isn't typically Sue's style (she tends to favour something narrower), but if you're petite and want it to work rather than swamp you, a heeled boot underneath helps no end.

Grey wash denim is having a moment precisely because it does everything indigo does but looks a touch more considered, a little less 'obviously jeans.' Add in a wide leg and a self-tie waist that actually fits properly instead of gaping, and you've got a pair of jeans that pull their weight like a smart trouser while still being, unmistakably, jeans.

Hil's Look – Smart Enough for a Meeting: A crisp white shirt tucked in, belt cinched at the waist, and a heeled boot underneath. Smart enough for a meeting, comfortable enough to actually sit through it.

Sue's Take: Wide-leg isn't usually her uniform, she's normally team skinny or straight, but she'd keep it simple if persuaded: a fine-knit jumper tucked in loosely and trainers, kept pared back so the leg doesn't swamp her small frame.
