Description

Party season opened. The Kam Trouser from Pieces — the Danish label that does laid-back Scandi essentials with a quiet polish — comes in a properly grown-up black sequin: shimmery enough to feel like an event, not so loud that you can't actually move through a room in them.

A flattering high waist, a slightly wide leg (slightly wide, mind — these don't swamp the body), and a full length that drops cleanly to the floor with a heel. The result is the rare evening trouser that does its job without making a fuss.

The fabric story is the small bonus: 55% recycled polyester in the blend, so the shimmer comes with a small dose of conscience attached. Plastic, repurposed, properly turned into something useful.

  • Hil (UK 10/12, 5'3"): takes the Medium. The high waist supports her tummy and the slightly wide leg balances her shape; the full length sits flush to the floor with a kitten heel underneath.
  • Sue (UK 6, 5'0"): would take the XS. On her petite frame the full length puddles slightly on the floor at 5'0" — a small heel or chunky boot underneath keeps the hem clear.
  • General note: the sequins do add a touch of weight to the drape. Full-length cut works best with a small heel or boot underneath rather than completely flat shoes.
Why We Love It

Sequin trousers that are actually wearable — high-waisted, slightly (not massively) wide, full length, no fuss — are far rarer than the catwalk would have you believe. The Kam is that pair. Dress them down with a knit and trainers for a daring daytime look, or dress them up with a silk camisole and heels for evening. The recycled polyester is a quiet bonus. At £42, properly fair.

  • Hil (M, 5'3"): wears them with a little kitten heel underneath (just enough lift to clear the floor cleanly), a fitted silk camisole tucked in, gold hoops and a stack of gold bangles. Hair in a messy high bun for evening. Properly considered party dressing.
  • Sue (XS, 5'0"): wears them with her chunky boots, a fitted vest, layered fine gold chains and her hair down. The contrast between sequin and chunky boot is properly her energy — evening polish with boho edge.
