Description

The Dean is the trouser you didn't know you were looking for. Wide, fluid and beautifully lightweight in a bold red and white candy stripe — with a smocked elasticated waistband and a soft drawstring that lets you pull it in exactly where you want it. The kind of trouser you throw on with slides or trainers and look like you've made considerably more effort than you have.

The wide leg is generous and the cotton moves well. Wear it high and tucked in for a defined waist, or low on the hips for a more relaxed, easy feel. Either way, you'll be reaching for these on repeat.

Achieve the perfect fit by following these simple measurement steps:

  • Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal.
  • Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your navel.
  • Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, with your feed together.

Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.

One size. Hil (5ft 3, UK 10/12) pulls hers up to her natural waist and ties the drawstring neatly — this gives beautiful definition and the wide leg falls perfectly. Sue (5ft, UK 6) wears hers sitting lower on the hips; at that position they're long on her and she does a small turn-up at the ankle, which looks completely intentional. If you're petite and planning to wear them at the hip, just bear that in mind.

Hil pulls hers up to her natural waist, ties the drawstring neatly, and tucks in a crisp white or cherry red top — the stripe carries everything else. Tan sandals or white trainers, a simple gold hoop, and she's away. Sue wears hers lower on the hips with a relaxed top worn loose — a linen shirt, or a simple cami with a blazer thrown over — and does a small turn-up at the ankle for the right proportion on her frame. Into autumn, both would tuck in a fine roll-neck and add a longline camel coat; the red stripe sits beautifully into an autumn palette and earns its keep well beyond summer.
