Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.

Hil's way: middle three buttons done — top and bottom left open to create a soft V at the neckline — worn OVER her Patricia jeans with ankle boots, gold hoops and her messy high bun. The V gives her a proper waist without tucking (which would emphasise the tummy on an apple shape), and the plum is a beautiful counterpoint to indigo denim.
