Description

Here at Wardrobe at The Cross we love an Annie mesh blouse — Black Colour brings them out reliably, and we bring them in reliably, because they are the properly considered layering piece the season is made for. This one lands in a beautiful Navy Dot — small polka spots on a soft navy mesh ground. Elegant, feminine, quietly considered.

Fabric-wise: 95% polyester, 5% spandex — the little stretch keeps it comfortable, the mesh does the soft-drape work, and it holds shape wash after wash.

The design:

  • Soft mesh construction — layers beautifully and moves well
  • Small polka-dot navy print — considered and feminine, plays with everything
  • Everyday-elegant silhouette — tucks into denim or a skirt, layers under a knit

Sizing — worth flagging:

  • Available in S/M, M/L, L/XL
  • The Annie mesh runs slightly generous — if you're between sizes, consider sizing down
  • Sue takes the S/M — it's loosey-goosey on her frame (which she's happy with — that's her preferred wear)
  • Hil takes the S/M — comfortable, still a little loose on her

How Hil wears hers — she's got very specific ideas here:

Outfit 1 — the print-clash considered move: tucked into her Toxik Judd Barrel Jeans in Mid Blue Denim, then layered over with our WoolOvers Merino Fair Isle Yoke Cardigan in Blue Multi. Fair Isle with polka dots sounds like it shouldn't work — but this is exactly the kind of considered print-clash Hil loves, and the shared blue palette pulls it beautifully together.

Outfit 2 — the skirt-and-boots winter combination: tucked into her My Essential Wardrobe Tracy Knit Skirt in Dark Grey Melange, with her signature very thick opaque tights (Hil doesn't do sheer — thick opaques always), finished with the new-in Emu Australia Nomad Wanderer Boot in Dark Olive. Skirt-plus-boots-plus-mesh-blouse considered head-to-toe winter.

Styling Suggestions
  • Hil's outfit 1 — print-clash considered: tucked into her Toxik Judd Barrel Jeans in Mid Blue Denim, layered over with our WoolOvers Merino Fair Isle Yoke Cardigan in Blue Multi. Fair Isle with polka dots is the sort of considered print-clash Hil loves — the shared blue palette pulls it together
  • Hil's outfit 2 — skirt-and-boots winter: tucked into her MEW Tracy Knit Skirt in Dark Grey Melange, with her very thick opaque tights (Hil doesn't do sheer), finished with the new-in Emu Australia Nomad Wanderer Boot in Dark Olive
  • Sue wears hers S/M and loosey-goosey — tucked into her cropped Toxik Keira jeans with her ancient Russell & Bromley stacked olive boots. The navy dot against olive is a lovely tonal-cool play
  • Under any of the Y London Asymmetric Knit family — dot-plus-knit is a considered layered move
  • With cream tailored trousers — the elegant considered daytime pairing
