Description

Let's talk about those buttons first, because everybody does. Four gleaming gold sunbursts march down the front of the Teri like little pieces of jewellery, catching the light every time you move. They are the first thing you notice and the last thing you forget, and they turn a knitted waistcoat into something altogether more glamorous.

Then there's the colour. Deep Emerald is a rich, inky forest green, edged at the neckline and armholes with a ribbed trim in a fiery burnt orange. It is bold, it is grown-up and it is wonderfully festive without ever going near a reindeer.

The knit itself is a beautifully fine, smooth gauge, with a soft hand and a lovely weight. The viscose gives it that fluid drape and gentle sheen; the nylon gives it strength and helps it hold its shape, so it stays sharp and never bags. Wear it buttoned up as a top in its own right, or layer it over a long sleeve. Either way, it looks and feels expensive.

About Emily Lovelock: launched in the summer of 2017 at the Who's Next show in Paris, Emily Lovelock is a fiercely independent label that refuses to choose between sophistication and a playful spirit. Every collection is made in-house, by a workforce that is nearly 90% women, many trained through the brand's own skills programme, keeping hand-finishing and craft at the heart of everything they make.

Features
  • Gold sunburst buttons: four statement buttons that work like jewellery.
  • Deep Emerald with burnt orange trim: ribbed contrast edging at the neckline and armholes.
  • Fine, smooth knit: soft drape and a gentle sheen, holds its shape beautifully.
  • Wear it two ways: buttoned up as a top, or layered over a long sleeve.
  • Composition: 65% Viscose, 35% Nylon
  • Made in-house by Emily Lovelock's skilled, women-led team
Care Instructions

Dry clean only.

A quick note, as we know this can put people off: the dry clean only label is there to protect those beautiful gold buttons, not because of the fabric. The knit itself is perfectly robust. It's simply the buttons that deserve a little extra care.

Size Guide

Available in XS to L. Take your usual size.

Hil, a UK 10 to 12, wears the M. Sue, a teeny tiny UK 6 to 8, wears the XS.

Why We Love It

Because it works as hard as you do. Dressed up with velvet trousers and a heel, it's a Christmas party showstopper. Dressed down with barrel jeans and trainers, it's the coolest thing at Saturday brunch. The gold buttons do the work of a necklace, the emerald and orange are pure joy, and the quality is there in every stitch.

You have 14 days from receipt to send your item back. Items must be returned new and unused, with tags still attached.

Styling Suggestions

How Hil dresses it up: as a top on its own with black trousers, ideally the velvet Nümph Harbor Trousers in Caviar, or the Compañía Fantástica Velvet Trousers in Brown, which look gorgeous with the emerald. A heel, a messy bun, a red lip and gold earrings, and she's off.

How Hil dresses it down: layered over the Faye Long-Sleeved Top in Hunter Green with the Toxik Tia Barrel Jeans in Chocolate Brown and a chunky trainer.

How Sue wears it: as a top on its own if the mood takes her, or over the Hunter Green Faye or the Golden Taupe Faye, with her Maya skinnies. She'll also wear it with her Emily Lovelock skirts from previous seasons, and we know plenty of you have those in your wardrobes too. Dig them out: the Teri was made for them. Whichever way she goes, it's always with her beloved stacked olive boots (an ancient Russell & Bromley purchase we cannot get her out of).
