Description

The Sofia is a lovely thing. Crisp white 100% cotton broderie anglaise — floral cut-outs running across the body and a pretty scalloped hem — with statement bubble sleeves that have a bit of theatre to them, but not so much that you couldn't wear this to a regular Saturday lunch.

It's finished with an adjustable grown-on necktie at the throat (the tie is part of the blouse, cut as one, and you can tie it big or small or leave it loose), and pearl buttons running down the front. Cotton through and through, so it breathes beautifully on a warm day.

Wear it to a summer wedding, to lunch in a back garden, or anywhere you don't want to be wearing the same blouse as everyone else.

Care Instructions

Hand wash in cool water or use a gentle machine cycle inside a laundry bag. Reshape and dry flat to protect the ruffles and broderie. Cool iron on the reverse if needed — avoid the bow and ruffles directly.

  • Hil (5'3", size 10/12, apple-shaped, 34EE bust): in the M. The M is what she needs to get her bust comfortably in — don't be tempted by the S. The bubble sleeves aren't extreme enough to overwhelm the top half, and the open V at the necktie gives her the neckline she likes.
  • Sue (5'0", size 6): in the S — the cropped length and bubble sleeves are made for her petite proportions. She'd add a cami underneath because of the broderie cut-outs.

Cotton broderie has no stretch and softens beautifully with wear and washing. The pattern is slightly sheer through the cut-outs — layer a vest underneath if you want full coverage.
