The Morrigan Coat from Sister Jane wraps you in the richness of the changing season — a proper investment autumn-into-winter statement coat combining a wool-mix trench silhouette with a cocoon shape, a removable quilted lining, and a versatile neck tie that can be worn at the waist or the neckline. This is the coat you'll pull on in October and still be wearing in February.

Sister Jane is a beloved independent British brand from London — properly considered, playful, romantic. This is exactly the kind of clever, considered outerwear they do best.

The fabrication is where this coat earns its £215: 40% wool with 60% polyester in the main fabric — a proper natural-fibre wool percentage giving the coat luxurious hand-feel, real warmth, and the natural drape that only wool can bring. The removable zip-out quilted lining (80% cotton, 20% polyester main body; quilted fabric 100% polyester) gives you effectively two coats in one — zip the lining in for the coldest days, zip it out for milder autumn or spring wear. The lining is finished with a beautiful contrast check binding — a proper considered detail even in the parts you're supposed to hide.

The design is properly clever: cocoon silhouette with a trench coat DNA, welt pockets (sleek and tailored, not slouchy), concealed tonal buttons at the front so the closure sits perfectly clean, and — the piece Hil is completely obsessed with — the removable neck tie. Wear it as a scarf at the neckline, tied loosely at the waist, or take it off entirely. Endless registers.

Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal.
Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your navel.
Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, with your feed together.

Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.

Hil's pick: Small (Hil's cocoon coat rule: she likes cocoon volume but not to the point of being swamped, so she takes her actual size — she'd even consider XS in this if she wanted a neater fit while still keeping cocoon shape)
Sue's note: honest one — this cocoon-trench isn't a natural silhouette for Sue's more bohemian style. The XS technically fits her but will read big on her frame. This coat is genuinely more Hil's than Sue's.
