MEW 29 Tailored Pant

The MEW Tailored Pant has a fixed, nicely high waistband that sits cleanly at the natural waist and does rather wonderful things for the posterior. Made from 52% recycled polyester and 7% elastane, the fabric is lightweight, crease-resistant and comfortable from morning through to evening. Care Instructions

Machine wash at 30°C, do not bleach, cool iron only, do not tumble dry. The recycled polyester blend means very little creasing — ideal for packing if you travel.

Why We Love It

Because a high-waisted trouser with a fixed, structured waistband and a loose leg is the most flattering combination going — and My Essential Wardrobe have executed it beautifully here. • Hil (UK 10/12, 5'3"): wears a 38 (UK 12) with a crisp white MEW Modal Top tucked in so the high waistband is on full display — it's the whole point. A blazer over the top and she's done. "The waistband does everything," she says. "You tuck a top in, the trouser does the rest." For evening she swaps the blazer for a silk blouse and block heels.
• Sue (UK 6, 5'0"): wears the 36 (UK 10) and loves how the high, fixed waist gives her a properly defined silhouette rather than disappearing into a shapeless waistband.
