Description

Dusty rose with a paisley-bandana jacquard running through it, the Maylis Cardigan is exactly the kind of chunky, no-nonsense knit you reach for when the weather turns properly autumnal. Thick enough to do a coat's job over a t-shirt, soft enough that you'll want to live in it.

It buttons all the way down the front with neat silver-effect buttons, has a proper shirt-style collar you can turn up against the wind, and two patch pockets for your phone, your keys, and whatever else you're carrying around that you probably don't need. The cut is straight and roomy rather than fitted, with sleeves that sit slightly loose, so there's plenty of room to layer underneath.

It's the sort of piece that makes an outfit look like you made an effort without actually making one: thrown over jeans and a plain tee for the school run, or over a skirt for something a little more "I have my life together," even on the days you really don't.

Care Instructions

Machine washable at 30°C max. We'd steer clear of anything hotter, and let it dry flat rather than on a hanger: chunky knits have a habit of stretching out of shape if you hang them wet.

  • Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal.
  • Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your navel.
  • Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, with your feed together.

Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.

Hil is 5'3" and usually a UK 10/12; Sue is 5'0" and usually a UK 6. Wherever you sit between (or beyond) them, the straight, roomy cut is forgiving either way: it's not a cardigan that's going to pin you into anything.
Why We Love It

There's something properly comforting about a chunky knit with a bit of print on it, rather than yet another plain block of colour, and the bandana motif gives this one just enough personality without tipping into fancy dress.
