The Kosmo Button Dress from b.young — the Danish brand for laid-back, properly-cut basics — is a classic shirt-style midi in a soft light-blue denim stripe, finished with a tailored collar and a button-through front. The cut is easy, the length is flattering, and the construction is properly grown-up.

The fabric is 100% Lyocell — the same silky-soft, breathable hero that does the work in the Kosmo cropped trousers and the Kosmo sleeveless shirt. It drapes like a dream, it's properly cool in the heat (a quiet word to anyone whose internal thermostat has gone slightly haywire — we see you), and it reads as expensive in a way denim just doesn't manage.

Wear it open as a long shirt-jacket over jeans and a tee. Wear it belted as a dress. Wear it on the beach over a swimsuit. Layer a knit over it when the British summer makes one of its decisions. The kind of dress that does five jobs at once.

Machine wash on a cool, gentle cycle. Lyocell holds its shape and colour beautifully but doesn't love high heat — wash cool, line dry rather than tumble, and iron on a low setting if needed. Treated kindly, the drape and softness only improve with wear.

How to Measure Yourself Correctly

Achieve the perfect fit by following these simple measurement steps:

Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal.
Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your navel.
Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, with your feed together.

Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.

Hil (UK 10/12, 5'3", 34EE): takes the EU 38 (UK 10). The shirt cut sits beautifully across her bust, the midi length flatters her height at 5'3", and the Lyocell drape floats over her tummy rather than clinging.
Sue (UK 6, 5'0"): takes the EU 34 (UK 6). On her petite frame the midi reads closer to maxi — elegant and easy.
General note: Lyocell has no stretch but a beautiful drape — it skims, never clings, and only gets softer with wear. If you are between sizes, size down for cleaner, up for floatier.

Hil (EU 38, 5'3"): wears it belted at her true waist with a tan leather belt, flat sandals or low-profile trainers, gold hoops and a stack of gold bangles. Hair in a high ponytail or messy high bun. For weekends she wears it open as a long shirt-jacket over a white tee and high-rise wide-leg jeans.
Sue (EU 34, 5'0"): wears it belted with chunky leather sandals, layered fine gold chains and her hair down. Or open over her cropped Keira jeans from Toxik and a fitted vest as a shirt-jacket. Boho, easy, very her.
