This is one of those jumpers that earns its space in your wardrobe. Deep, rich red — not tomato, not pillar box, but that proper wine-red that flatters nearly everyone — with the sweetest scattered floral embroidery all over: tiny raised blooms in pale pink, white and soft grey that feel almost three-dimensional when you look at them up close.

The shape is exactly right. Crew neck, long sleeves, a gentle puff at the shoulder that's subtle enough not to feel costume-y, ribbed cuffs — and it sits at the hip in a way that's neat rather than boxy. Nobody's Child have made it in a recycled polyester and wool blend that has real warmth and substance — this is proper autumn and winter jumper territory, not a decorative throw-over that doesn't actually keep you warm. The wool is RWS certified, for those keeping score.

Honestly? We put it on Hil for the photos and she nearly didn't give it back.

Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure horizontal.
Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, just above your navel.
Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, with your feed together.

Ensure the tape measure is snug, but not tight, and parallel to the floor.

Hil is 5’3” and a UK 10/12 — she takes a Medium, which sits neatly at the hip with a proper fit through the body without being tight. If you like yours slightly more relaxed, try a Large; if you’re a 10 who prefers a closer fit, a Small would work too.

Sue is 5’0” and a UK 6 — she takes an XS, which gives just a little ease through the body and comes to just above the hip. She is extremely happy about this.

We love a piece that does two things at once — and this one manages three. The colour is a winter wardrobe staple. The embroidery makes it properly interesting. And the shape is flattering enough that you’d reach for it without thinking. We’ve barely had it in stock five minutes and it’s already caused a minor incident in the shop.

Hil wears hers with high-waisted straight-leg trousers — a small front-tuck to define her waist — statement gold earrings, a bold lip and her hair up. She says it’s the kind of jumper that looks like you’ve tried without actually having to try very hard. Sue wears hers with her cropped Keira jeans from Toxik and chunky trainers now through autumn, then swaps in her stacked boots as the temperature really drops — hair always down, always tousled.
